Subway strike: Passengers warned not to travel during the action next week

L.

Consumers were urged not to take the subway next Tuesday and Wednesday amid widespread industrial action on the net.

Transport to London (TfL) said the strike would cause serious disruption on all subway lines.

This comes as some 10,000 Tube workers from the RMT and Unite unions prepare for a second day of strike this month after the network closed on June 6.

Some industrial activities taking place on the UK rail network are also expected to cause chaos for passengers. Controversy erupted over pay, jobs and conditions, with the Transport Employees Association (TSSA) announcing more strikes on railway companies on Wednesday, raising the threat of a long summer of disruption.

TfL said it expects “serious disruptions or lack of service” on all subway lines on Tuesday if the strike continues without services being carried out before 8am on Wednesday.

Network Rail has given similar advice not to travel when half of Britain’s railways are closed during strikes on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday next week.

They urged customers to avoid traveling on Wednesdays until mid-morning.

Meanwhile, Londoners who want to use all sorts of underground services that operate on Tuesday are urged to complete their trip by 6 p.m.

Bus services are likely to be “extremely busy” as a result of the strikes, they said.

TfL advises anyone wishing to travel to consider walking or cycling.

Meanwhile, strikes on the UK rail network are also expected to disrupt TfL’s services, including London Overground.

Reduced services on London’s overpass and the newly opened Elizabeth Line will be open on 21, 23 and 25 June.

The break from the national railway strike will also affect customers in the morning, when no strike action is planned, including Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

RMT’s strike continues on Night Tube, but TfL said it is doing a good service on the Victoria and Jubilee lines, with at least three trains an hour. There is also a regular line on the central line with at least two trains per hour.

Andy Lord, TfL’s chief operating officer, said most subway stations would be closed next week without any services.

“Subway alternatives are likely to be much busier than usual, and we expect the severe disruption caused by this strike to continue until Wednesday morning, June 22nd. “I am very sorry for the impact this will have on people’s travels,” he said.

“This strike is particularly disappointing, as it comes so soon after industrial action earlier this month, no pension changes have been proposed and no one has or will lose their job as a result of the proposals we have put forward.

“We call on RMT and Unite to lift this strike and work with us to find a solution and avoid the huge disruption that this action will cause to people’s travel and our economic recovery.

TfL said it had met with representatives of RMT and the Union on Wednesday, but was unable to resolve the salary and pension dispute.

They rejected claims that they would not hire between 500 or 600 jobs as they resigned.

RMT has called for talks with Transport Minister Grant Shaps and Chancellor Rishi Sunak, with union secretary-general Mick Lynch accusing the Treasury Department of “creating the shootings” and preventing railway employers from reaching a negotiated agreement.

Network Rail CEO Andrew Haynes denied the request, saying the Treasury had set a financial framework.
