The strong thunderstorm for the Toronto region ended on Thursday.
A recommendation issued by Environment Canada at 11:27 a.m. said the conditions were “favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms, which could cause strong gusts of wind and hail.”
The Meteorological Agency said wind gusts of 90 km / h to 110 km / h were expected in Toronto in the afternoon.
Environment Canada says nickel-sized hailstones are also possible.

Global News chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell said Thursday was an “active weather day” as “hot and humid conditions collided with the cold front and caused several thunderstorms”.

“Reports of fallen trees in some places along with hail as big as ping pong balls in places like Scarborough,” he said. “Some of these storms were spinning and triggered tornado warnings east of the GTA. Investigative teams will go out tomorrow to investigate whether a tornado has occurred.

According to Farnell, nearly 35,000 Hydro One customers are in the dark after heavy storms on Thursday – most in eastern Ontario.

Farnell said the temperature “will cool quickly tonight as the humidity drops.”
“It will be almost cool until Saturday, with the highest values remaining in the upper teens in partial sunny skies,” he said.

Ottawa and parts of eastern Ontario, meanwhile, have been under tornado surveillance for part of Thursday, but have since been lifted.
