The QEW crash left two dead and two injured

Two people were killed and two others were injured in a crash that night on Queen Elizabeth Way in Mississauga.

The collision took place on Thursday, June 16 at around 22:30 in the eastern lanes of the highway just before Cawthra Road.

According to the OPP, the drivers of two vehicles were initially involved in the accident.

A third driver then collided with the stopped vehicles, they said, killing the two drivers and injuring two others.

Peel’s paramedics confirmed that two people had been pronounced dead at the scene.

They also said one patient was rushed to a life-threatening trauma center and another was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmid said the victims were a man and a woman.

He said the reports showed that both drivers involved in the initial collision were outside their car when the driver of the third hit the two vehicles from behind.

Schmid said the driver of the third vehicle was slightly injured.

Queen Elizabeth Way was closed for several hours in both directions between Dixie and Cawthra while police investigated. The highway is open for traffic around 5 am
