On Saturday, June 11, “Danger!” Champion Amy Schneider threw the first field in a San Francisco Giants match in honor of Pride Day.
While Schneider’s pitch was seen as an LGBTQ performance in the Major League Baseball, there were some who wondered why Fox Sports – which aired the game – did not broadcast the pitch in its broadcast.

Meanwhile, some viewers said that until Fox Sports aired the pitch thrown by a trans woman, it instead aired the first pitch by NASCAR driver Kurt Bush a few days earlier.

This has led many to turn to social media to criticize Fox Sports for perceived transphobia due to Bush’s broadcasting, but not Schneider’s.

Fox Sports would not be showing Amy Schneider’s first pitch, so now it has to be shared by everyone on Twitter, that’s the rule. # Danger

Say you’re transphobic without saying you’re transphobic. @ FOXSports refused to show Jeopardy champion Amy Schnieder, a transgender woman who dumped the first field and showed an old one instead. # Pride # PrideMonth2022 #FreshResists

However, Fox Sports officials offered an explanation, telling TMZ that the first games were never aired as part of their game broadcasts and that Busch’s first pitch was part of a promotional package for the upcoming NASCAR race.
“They say that the reason for misleading their viewers is cross-promotion, not something to do with me, so I will take their word for it,” Schneider told TMZ.

She added that the show’s director had contacted her to offer a personal apology and reiterated the reason her ad was cut, had nothing to do with being in a trance, and she accepted the apology.
