Machete and drugs seized as a taxi driver

A taxi driver has been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking in Sefton.

Police arrested a 42-year-old man at around 6.30pm last Saturday after Crosby patrol officers witnessed alleged drug deals in a private car rental on Hicks Road and Glendauer Road, Waterloo.

Officers detained the driver, searched the vehicle and found numerous shells suspected of cocaine. The Formby driver was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Detective Inspector Darren Hankin said: “Thanks to the work of our staff yesterday, dangerous weapons and drugs have been removed from our streets and can no longer be used to inflict fear and harm on Merseyside.

“We know that the drug trade is a defeat for our communities, and we will tirelessly persecute those responsible. No one should profit from such crimes as our wider law-abiding communities work hard to earn a living and we take action on all drug reports we receive.

“If you know anyone in your area involved in an alleged drug trade, please let us know so we can remove them from our streets.”

Anyone with information on drug trafficking in their community is asked to send DM @MerPolCC or contact @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if in progress.
