It seems that the top assistant coach of Warriors Kenny Atkinson still remains in the bay.
After it was previously announced that Atkinson had agreed to a four-year contract to become the new head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, Atkinson reportedly changed his mind.
Atkinson was offered the job during the NBA Finals, but further discussions led him to believe it was best to stay with the Warriors, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said on Saturday, citing sources.
ESPN sources: Kenny Atkinson has decided not to become the head coach of the Charlotte Hornets and will remain with Golden State as chief assistant. After being offered a job during the NBA Finals, further conversations led Atkinson to believe that it would be best to stay with the Warriors.

He reportedly informed the Hornets that he would not become the new coach of the franchise and would remain at Golden State.
Atkinson spent his first season on the Warriors’ bench this year and helped coach the team for the NBA Championship.

Last season, Atkinson was an assistant to the Los Angeles Clippers.
He was previously the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2016-2020, where he was praised for helping to turn the culture in Brooklyn.

Atkinson will now stay with the Warriors and join the festivities as they continue, after which he will immediately return to work for next season.
