Westlink closes after “serious road collision”

Westlink is closed in both directions after a serious road collision.

Details of the crash are unclear, but an ambulance from Northern Ireland said it received a 999 call at 6:53 p.m., “following reports of an RTC involving a West Link motorcycle in Belfast.”

A NIAS spokesman added that “they have sent two emergency teams to the incident”.

The spokesman added: “After the assessment and initial treatment, no patients were taken from the scene.

PSNI said: “Westlink in Belfast is closed in both directions between Broadway and Clifton Street after a serious road collision.

“Employees are working to identify deviations, but drivers are advised to look for alternative routes for their journey at the moment.”

Trafficwatch NI’s Twitter account tweets “A12 Westlink is now CLOSED BOTH between Broadway and Clifton Street. Please look for an alternative route. (19:33) ”.

Earlier, they tweeted: “#Belfast – A12 Westlink is closed to M2-related traffic. All traffic deviates from Grosvenor Road. (19:16) ”.
