Apple’s TV Remote app is back in the iOS 16 App Store

Apple’s “TV Remote” app is set to return with iOS 16, according to a recent tweet from MacRumors contributor Steve Moser.

Although Apple’s virtual TV remote was available as an app, the tech giant dropped the special app and removed it from the App Store in October 2020. The app has since been available directly through the iOS and iPadOS Control Center.

Finally, the TV remote is an application again. Now, if only it appears at the top of the Spotlight search results. Has anyone made a shortcut to run it so I can put it on my home screen? pic.twitter.com/41qw24cQ7e

Now it seems that along with the updated, highly customized lock screen, the special Apple TV Remote app is also back. As someone who constantly loses his physical remote for Apple TV and who often forgets that he can slide down from the top of his iPhone to gain access to the built-in virtual remote, this is great news. (I’m so used to using Apple’s special remote control app).

The first beta for iOS 16 developers is currently available, and a public beta is likely to launch at some point next month.

The final version of iOS 16 will be released this fall. For more information on iOS 16, follow this link.
