Commission on January 6, addressed to Pence, Ginny Thomas

WASHINGTON (AP) – Members of the House of Representatives committee investigating the Capitol riots said Sunday they could call a summons to former Vice President Mike Pence and wait to hear from Virginia “Ginny” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clay. Thomas, for her role in an illegal conspiracy to cancel the 2020 elections.

Lawmakers said they would release more evidence of Donald Trump’s alleged efforts to defraud supporters by raising funds from false allegations of stolen presidential election. They also promised to provide relevant materials to the Ministry of Justice by the end of the month for its criminal investigation. The department complained in a letter last week that the commission was complicating its investigation by not sharing transcripts of its 1,000 interviews.

“We are not taking anything away from the table for witnesses who have not yet testified,” said spokesman Adam Schiff, who described Pence’s summons as “certainly a possibility.”

“I think we would still like some high-ranking people to come before our committee,” said Schiff, D-Calif.

For example, the commission was able to document most of the end of Trump’s call to Pence on the morning of the January 6, 2021 uprising, when the then president made his last request to Pence to stop certifying Joe Biden’s victory when Pence presided over the poll board in Congress. Members have not yet directly documented what Pence said in response.

The chairman of the commission, Benny Thompson, D-Miss. Pence associates.

Members of the commission also hope to learn more about Ginny Thomas’ efforts to keep Trump in office and the potential conflicts of interest raised by her husband as a result of the January 6 Supreme Court hearings.

Republican Rusty Bowers, a spokesman for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, is due to testify at Tuesday’s committee hearing, focusing on government officials Trump and the White House contacted as Trump tried to overturn the results. Bowers is likely to be asked about emails he received from Thomas urging him and other government officials to set aside Biden’s 2020 victory and choose their own set of voters.

“We have questions for her and we may have questions for him,” said Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif.

Thomas has publicly stated that she “can’t wait” to appear before the commission after receiving their request in a letter last week.

In addition to sending emails to Arizona officials, Thomas, who attended a Trump rally just before the Capitol uprising, had also written to then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in the weeks after the election, urging him to work to repeal the Biden’s victory. Emails recently received by the commission also show that Thomas had an email communication with John Eastman, a lawyer who played a key role on Trump’s behalf in efforts to pressure Pence to cancel the election.

“I think the commission will be interested, among other things, in whether this has been discussed with Judge Thomas, given that he has ruled on cases that affect whether we will receive some of this information,” Schiff said.

Last January, Thomas was the only member of the court to support Trump’s January 6 motion to withhold documents from the commission.

Lofgren said the commission will release additional evidence it has gathered about the “big fraud”, in which the commission claims that Trump may have committed fraud by raising funds by falsely claiming that the election was stolen.

Representative Adam Kinsinger, R-Ill., Said the public would eventually have a clear idea of Trump’s “oath failure.”

“I think what we present to the American people will certainly rise to the level of criminal involvement on the part of the president,” he said.

Kinzinger also said that he and his family had received threats because of their role in the commission. He spoke of his concern that there would be violence in the future. … And until we start telling people the truth, we can’t expect anything else. ”

Schiff appeared on CNN’s State of the Union, Lofgren appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation, and Kinzinger spoke on ABC’s This Week.
