Father arrested after overturning a car with children inside

A father has been arrested after allegedly turning over a car he was driving.

The 42-year-old Southport man was suspected of overturning his car on Crosby Road South, near the intersection with Princess Way, in Seafort. At around 8.15 pm on Sunday, June 20, police and an ambulance were called to the scene.

Police say two children were passengers in the car at the time of the crash and were injured. The driver received “minor injuries” and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Posting about the incident on Twitter, the Merseyside Police Department said: “The driver of this vehicle drove amazingly while under the influence of alcohol with his two children in the back of the vehicle before rolling it. Fortunately, both children are safe and well. The driver was arrested after refusing to take a breath test. ”

Police confirmed that the driver was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a sample and careless driving. They are appealing for all kinds of witnesses, video surveillance and dashboard recordings that can help the investigation.
