Lady Deborah James managed to spend time with her beloved father on Father’s Day.

The You, Me & The Big C podcast has had a busy week of events as she continues to raise funds and campaigns for cancer charities while also working on end-stage bowel cancer.

In May, the 40-year-old author announced she had stopped cancer treatment and is now receiving hospice care at her parents’ home in Woking, Surrey.

Lady Deborah shared a new photo in her Instagram stories on Sunday, revealing that she is spending Father’s Day with her father Alistair. However, in the bittersweet image, Alistair is seen combing Lady Deborah’s hair due to the TV operator’s lack of energy.

‘Happy. Father’s Day! Yes, my dad washes my hair because [sic] I no longer have the strength to read this, “she wrote in the caption.

In her latest column, the former head teacher revealed that she plans to enjoy whiskey with Alistair to celebrate the special day, and praised him as her “unsung hero”, especially during her devastating ordeal.

“He’s quietly behind the scenes and he’s making sure I’m okay,” Deborah told The Sun.

“He has always been a very reassuring, loving presence in my life – he is very good at dealing with me and all my madness. His patience knows no bounds.

The mother of two added that she finds cooking “therapeutic” at the moment and is happy to spend these moments with her father, who “patiently helps”.

“That night, cooking the fajit took about an hour and a half, when it had to take 30 minutes. “Instead of just trying to do it for me, he gave me the different ingredients and let me do my thing,” she said.

“Sounds like a little thing, but it means the world – and I love doing it with it.”

This comes hours after Lady Deborah announced that she had raised £ 1 million to study cancer through sales of her clothing line with In The Style.

More: Cancer

Along with a photo of herself posing with a large plate, she wrote in an Instagram post: “WOW !! ONE MILLION PUES. Honestly, I’m so impressed that @inthestyle raised over £ 1,000,000 for @bowelbabefund for @cr_uk!

“Everything from the sales of the ITS x Dame Deborah James collection and the Rebellious Hope T-shirts I designed with @inthestyle. (One million, that’s just crazy). ‘
