A crying newborn was found dumped in the trash with the umbilical cord still attached

A newborn baby was found dumped in a basket with wheels and crying – with the umbilical cord still attached.

The little boy was reportedly found in a brown garden waste bin in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, around 5pm on Sunday.

A resident nearby is said to have heard something crying from the trash and found the little one among the cut grass inside, Grimsby Live reports.

Paramedics were taken to the scene within minutes while cops cordoned off the area.

Since then, the baby’s mother has been tracked down and she and the baby have been taken to hospital for examination.

It is now understood that they are taken care of by the relevant authorities.

A resident told Grimsby Live: “The mother must have been too young to know whether or not she wanted anyone to know she was pregnant.

“We just hope he gets the care he needs [for her] and her baby. “

At least four police cars were taken to the family’s quiet mansion, along with two ambulances, after Sunday’s shock find.

Officers were also spotted knocking on doors to interview residents.

A spokesman for the East Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 4.58pm on June 19 at a private address in Grimsby.

“The caller called for emergency medical care. We sent two ambulances with a crew and two patients were taken to the hospital of Diana, Princess of Wales.”

Humberside police said they could not give more details than the statement given to GrimsbyLive on Sunday.

The statement read: “Employees are present at a Winchester Avenue property following reports of security concerns earlier tonight (Sunday, June 19).

“Aid has been provided to those affected. There are no problems or risks for the wider community. “
