For a long time, Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg was a strong advocate for the virtual reality (VR) segment and even changed the name of his corporate company to Meta to continue working on the metaverse of the virtual reality platform.
Zuckerberg sees a lot of potential in virtual reality not only in games but also in education. As he responded to a fan video on Facebook on Monday (June 20th), he said he would not leave college in the middle of the road if classes were held with VR headphones.
Zuckerberg in a short video byte posted on Facebook gave fans and technology enthusiasts a look at the company’s four advanced VR prototypes. And he gave some ideas on what challenges the company’s Reality Labs division faces and how to solve them.
The new test model of VR hats, codenamed butterscotch, is able to maintain a “retinal resolution” of 60 pixels per degree and allows users to comfortably read the smallest characters in the eye test table.
The second challenge is focal length, with Reality Labs engineers testing models to allow users to see objects clearly, no matter how far or close to the eyes in the VR cap.
This problem is solved with Varifocal function and eye tracking technology, which offers a comprehensive 3D view.
As we build toward the metaverse, we explore how to develop a virtual reality display system in which what you see in your headphones is as vivid and detailed as the physical world. Mark Zuckerberg just shared details here pic.twitter.com/toxEcYABT8

Meta’s Reality Labs is also working on software optimization to control optical distortion.
In addition, to offer HDR (high dynamic range) and ensure that objects such as flora and fauna look rich in color, Reality Labs has developed a prototype codenamed starburst, the first HDR VR system.
These technologies promise that the things we see in cyberspace through VR headphones look as natural as we see through our eyes in the real world.
The company has also developed a working prototype of Holocake 2, which is included with the latest AR / VR technology, which can overcome the above-mentioned challenges, but needs more testing.

“Showing some new prototype VR displays as part of our study to make the metaverse as realistic as the physical world. It is necessary to solve challenges with retinal resolution, multiple focal depths, high dynamic range and more – and then to fit all this technology into devices lighter / thinner than anything that exists. We have the best teams in the world working on all these issues, “Zuckerberg said.
The progress Meta has made in VR headset technology looks promising. But there is no official information when we will be able to see the commercial version of the store shelves.
