MEXICO CITY, June 21 (Reuters) – Two Canadians, a man and a woman, were killed in the seaside resort of Playa del Carmen off the Caribbean coast of Mexico, authorities said Tuesday.
The killings in Quintana Roux followed the fatal shooting in January of two Canadians with criminal records in nearby Cancun.
A high-ranking government official told Reuters that the man, whose identity has not been made public, is wanted by Interpol.

“He was not a tourist,” the official said, adding that the man had been hiding in Mexico for about four years.
Mexican media reported that the victims had their throats cut, citing a report by local police. Quintana Roo’s prosecutor’s office said the two were stabbed, but did not respond immediately to requests for further comment.
Their bodies were found in local quarters, and a third person, a man, was also injured, the office said.
The Canadian Embassy in Mexico confirmed that the dead were Canadian citizens and said it was in contact with local authorities. They said they could not reveal more information at the moment.
