Katie Price has avoided jail for sending an “angry and provocative” message to her ex-husband in violation of a restraining order forbidding her from contacting his new partner.
The 44-year-old former glamorous model sent Kieran Hailer a message on January 21 this year, in which she branded his new partner Michelle Pentecost, “c — ing w —-” and “gutter s– -“.
She pleaded guilty to violating the restraining order and was sentenced to an 18-month community warrant with 150 hours of community service with an additional 20 hours for violating a suspended sentence for driving.
She was also ordered to pay £ 1,500 in court costs.
Judge Stephen Mooney told Price: “In my opinion, this crime was committed out of anger.
“The words you used were very offensive and provocative, so the violation cannot be considered insignificant.
“In my opinion, balancing the aggravating and mitigating and aggravating factors, the appropriate sentence is an average level of public procurement.
Price showed no emotion when the verdict was announced, but she smiled briefly as she left the dock.
Price was barred from contacting Ms. Penticost directly or indirectly under a five-year restraining order imposed by the Horsham Magistrates’ Court on June 3, 2019.
She was also fined £ 415 for throwing an obscene “tirade of abuse” at her during a school fight.
The court heard that her message to Hailer may have been triggered by an Instagram post by Ms. Penticost, which she denies being directed at Price.
Price’s message was, “Tell your x — ing w —-, piece of dirt —, don’t let your girlfriend start with me.”
“She has a restraining order, so you shouldn’t try to oppose me because she’s in violation, and I’m sure she doesn’t want people to know she had an affair with you behind my back.
The court heard that the crime was committed due to Price’s use of the words “tell yourself”, which is an indirect attempt to communicate with Penticost.
The message had a “destructive effect”
In a statement about the impact on the victim, read in court, Ms Penticost said the violation had a “destructive effect” on her mental well-being.
She said: “The impact of what Katie has done is very upsetting, I feel threatened and scared.
“I feel demoralized and I don’t want to go out. The language I used made me feel scared. I felt that this was an attack on me.
“The consequences are that I feel that she will attack me. I felt that I had a restraining order, that she would make me feel safe, but if someone violated her, it made me feel very vulnerable.”
Price was present at the trial, dressed in all-green clothing, and was heard telling a reporter to “suck my d —” after being asked about the prospects of a prison sentence.
