“Remember the Alamo,” was the cry of the Texas Revolution. But “remember the receipts” may now be what Phil Collins thinks after doubts have been raised about his collection of battlefield artifacts.
Court documents outline how it was “implied” in a recent book that Collins bought Alamo swords and knives at “inflated prices” and with “false inscriptions.”
The controversy over the authenticity of the items at one point prompted the British musician to consider withdrawing the gift from his Alamo collection to a planned museum at the site of the 1836 siege. Collins wrote to those associated with the museum: which is not.
