One person was injured when a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and subsequently hit a lighting pole on Quinpool Road in Halifax shortly after 7am on Saturday.
A statement from Halifax police said the 26-year-old driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened between Preston Street and Lane Monastery. This section of the street was closed for about an hour.
The owner of East Coast Bakery, who is across the street from the ladder, provided CBC News with a security camera footage.
In the video, the car is seen moving east on Quinpool Road and then climbing the sidewalk and hitting a ladder.
It kills the base of the ladder, causing a transformer to crash into the sidewalk. The rest of the top of the ladder jumps overhead with the wires still attached.
The car then turns across the road to Monastery Lane.
The video only shows the impact of the ladder, not the second pillar mentioned in the message.
According to the press release, the driver is not expected to be charged in connection with the accident.
