The first hot weather in the summer in British Columbia caused Environment Canada to issue heat warnings for large parts of the province.
Environment Canada says it has upgraded special weather statements to heat warnings for Metro Vancouver, Howe Sound, Fraser Valley and the North Coast.
The heat warnings came a year after a thermal dome in British Columbia sent temperatures of 40 C and above and killed 619 people, many of whom were indoors alone and adults.
Environment Canada says temperatures near water in the Vancouver Metro are expected to reach a low of 30 and be higher in the interior of the Fraser Valley.
Environment Canada says the risk of heat-related illness increases with fever.
It says heat warnings are expected to remain in effect until Monday, with cooler weather arriving in the middle of the week.
