Leamington police left an angry parking note

Police left a note from a disgruntled resident after parking their car to help colleagues arrest a man after an alleged attack.

Leamington and New Milton police officers were left on the note after parking the car on a side street near Bridge Street on Saturday night.

A spokesman said: “Late last night, Waterside staff helped our colleagues arrest two men after an attack on a pub in Leamington against staff members.

“The two men, who had separated from a larger group, had escaped from the officers and were located on Bridge Street by a single officer with a crew chasing them on foot to arrest them.

“Both men were arrested a little later on suspicion of assault and assault on a police officer. Fortunately, the policeman was not injured.

“The officer parked his car on a side street on Bridge Street to chase the suspects.

“After returning to his car, chasing the offenders, arresting them and being attacked, he found the attached note on his car.

“We assess parking as a common problem, but employees often have to make decisions in the middle of the moment and we cannot always explain to residents what is happening and the reasons for our actions.

“I hope that the angry resident can understand the reason why he has to leave the vehicle where he was.

“Both men remain in custody at the moment and the investigation continues. Anyone who has any information about this incident can contact us at 101 or online, quoting number 44220253635.
