Lila Smith reported missing CTV news

Edmonton Police Department is looking for a 13-year-old girl who was last seen Friday morning.

Lila Smith was reported missing from her family after she did not return by school bus.

Family members later learned that while Smith took the bus to school at 8:30 a.m. at her stop on 131 Avenue and 91 Street, she did not attend classes all day.

Police described her as 5’10 “tall (approximately 1.8 meters) with a thin physique and weighing approximately 100 pounds (45 kilograms). She was last seen wearing a blue hood and white sleeves, torn blue jeans, black Converse shoes and backpack.

Robin Hanson, a close friend of the family for more than 20 years, told CTV News Edmonton that Smith’s disappearance was out of character and family members were worried about her well-being.

“Lila is a pretty introverted child,” Hanson said. “She’s pretty shy and that’s why she tends to hang out at home with family and friends.”

Friends and family began touring neighborhoods in the city to share information about her disappearance and gather advice.

“Not hearing anything from her is incredibly devastating,” Hanson added. “Our hearts just break in anticipation of news from someone.”
