DETROIT – Former Local 4 News meteorologist Kim Adams will rejoin WDIV as a meteorologist on all of our station’s major content platforms – Local 4 News on TV, ClickOnDetroit’s website and Local 4+’s streaming channel, it was announced today by WDIV Vice President and General Manager Bob Ellis.
Adams will begin these new roles on August 8.
“For some time now, we’ve been looking for someone who can serve our audience’s changing content needs,” Ellis said. “Looking around the country, we were looking for the right person to deal with what the people of Southeast Michigan have clearly told us they need and want on television, on our website and with extended coverage during important weather events. In Kim, we found that the right person was here at home all the time. “
Adams previously worked as a meteorologist at Local 4, most recently in 2009 when she left the station to become a full-time mother to her five children.

“We are excited that Kim is returning to the Local 4 team,” said news director Kim Voet. “She certainly knows southeastern Michigan and the time that comes with living here. Southeast Michigan also knows Kim, and they know they can count on her to keep them informed on all of our platforms about the changing times.
In addition to her role to join Devin Cillian, Kimberly Gill, Karen Drew, Jason Colthorpe and Bernie Smilovitz in Local 4 News every night on television, Kim will be a daily contributor to clickondetroit.com, providing weather forecasts for the website and apps for stations, as well as providing insights through in-depth articles and a weekly weather bulletin on why changing weather conditions are happening.
It will also serve as one of the main forecasts for Local 4+, the station’s streaming channel, where it will anchor extended coverage for all of southeastern Michigan.
In a team with Paul Gross, Andrew Humphrey, Brandon Roo and Brett Yaker, Adams will help sharpen the station’s focus on reflecting local time under the new station weather brand, 4 Weather warning. Using the most powerful weather technology available today, which is exclusive to Local 4 News, the station will give viewers the most up-to-date information available for each neighborhood so they are always prepared.

“My job is first and foremost to make sure everyone in Detroit and Southeast Michigan is ready for anything to come. You will get this on TV, in our app, website and streaming channel. Growing up in southeastern Michigan, Adams has won numerous awards from the Associated Press and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for her weather reports.
She is also very involved in our community through her volunteer work. She is an active supporter of Susan G. Comen’s Healing Competition, raising awareness of women’s health issues. Kim is a former executive director of fundraising and development for the New Day for Families Foundation, which provides financial assistance to help cancer patients during treatment.
Drawing on her experience as a victim of domestic violence and breast cancer, she is a tireless advocate for a fearless life. Additional organizations where she volunteered include The Miracle League and Turning Point Domestic Violence Shelter. She also spends time supporting Michigan Humane.
Adams graduated with honors from the University of Auckland, ranking 3rd in his graduation class. She received a master’s degree from Wayne State University with a degree in Radio / TV and Film. She also studied thermodynamics and dynamics at the U.S. Department of Agriculture High School in Washington, D.C., and synoptic meteorology at Ohio State University.
