An 81-year-old woman from Brampton, who went missing on Sunday night, was found dead in a pond near the place where she went missing, Peel police said.
Pasho Bassi was last seen at his residence in the Cottrelle Boulevard and McVean Drive area around 8 p.m. She was reported missing at police on Monday morning.
Police then conducted a thorough search in the immediate vicinity, as Bassi, who is believed to have left his home on foot, had limited mobility. An OPP helicopter was also called to join the search.
At around 5pm, police said the helicopter spotted a body in a pond near Hunstpoint and McQueen drivers, a few meters from Bassi’s residence.
Police later confirmed that the body belonged to Bassi.
“At this point, we do not believe and do not have information to show that this circumstance is suspicious. However, we will work closely with the coroner’s office and wait for their final report. ” said Sarah Patton.
“We would like to express our sincerest condolences to Ms. Bassi’s family and relatives and friends. And we will provide them with all the support they need. “
