Sony’s $ 899 INZONE gaming monitor will automatically optimize the PS5’s HDR

As rumored last week, Sony has announced a new range of gaming-specific hardware, including two monitors and three headphones. The line, called INZONE, is topped by the M9: a 27-inch 4K IPS monitor for $ 899.99 with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The panel matches the white and blue aesthetics of the PS5 and is available directly to new generation console owners – as well as PC players, of course.

With a reaction time of 1 ms, the Japanese giant is aimed specifically at enthusiasts – and even sponsors the EVO 2022 fighting games tournament, which, of course, is a co-owner. In particular, the manufacturer promises automatic HDR tone mapping and claims that when the screen is connected to the PS5, it will optimize the colors and output for the game you are playing. In addition, the panel will include an automatic genre picture mode that will switch between low latency game modes and movie modes, depending on what you are doing. The display will also support all VRR-optimized games.

If all this sounds too expensive, then Sony also offers an alternative for $ 529.99: M3. This reduces the peak brightness of the HDR from 600 nits to 400 nits and eliminates all of the aforementioned auto-dimming functions, but increases the refresh rate to 240 Hz and the VRR remains. The downside is that it reaches 1080p, but you still get this extremely fast response time of 1 ms.

Elsewhere, there are a trio of headphones, redesigned to match the aesthetics of the PS5. They are led by the wireless H9, which promises 32 hours of battery life and digital noise reduction. Priced at $ 299.99, they are expensive, but come with some pretty in-depth features – such as the fact that computer players can install an accompanying application that allows them to install a custom spatial audio profile. Like Mark Cerny’s famous PS5 presentation, the setup process will involve capturing your ears, which the company says could help improve the audio output of the headphones.

If the flagship option is too expensive, then there are alternatives in the form of $ 229.99 H7 and $ 99.99 H3, the latter of which is connected. They all look similar, but apparently the sound quality decreases with the H3 (while the H7 eliminates digital noise reduction, but actually increases battery life by up to 40 hours).

And yes, as mentioned earlier, the entire line will sponsor the upcoming Fighting Tournament, EVO 2022. “Making this announcement as part of INZONE’s global launch is another example of the momentum that is gaining momentum for the Evo 2022. We “We are pleased to present a new technology with which our participants can experience fighting games.
