The thin-skinned Vladimir Putin responded to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other Western leaders who mocked his exploits as a tough topless man, with the Russian leader saying they would look “disgusting” if they tried to copy him.
Earlier this week, Mr Johnson joked that G-7 leaders could take off their clothes to “show that we are tougher than Putin” amid tensions between Russia and the West over Moscow’s military action. in Ukraine.
He added that we should “show our breasts”.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has also annoyed the Russian president, arguing that Western leaders may try to compare the photos of Putin’s naked torso to “a show of horseback riding with bare breasts”, one of his widely publicized athletic adventures.
However, the joke seems to be lost on the Russian leader. He was asked to comment during a visit to Turkmenistan and accused Western leaders of drinking too much.
Speaking to reporters, Putin said that, unlike him, Western leaders were abusing alcohol and not doing enough sports.
“I don’t know how they wanted to undress, above or below the waist,” he said. “But I think it will be a disgusting sight anyway.”
He noted that in order to look good, “you need to stop abusing alcohol and other bad habits, exercise and participate in sports.”
Mr Putin was photographed shirtless while riding a horse, as well as hunting and fishing, among other things.

He is also regularly shown playing ice hockey, and it was only this week that it was revealed that during talks on the war in Ukraine with French leader Emmanuel Macron, it was alleged that Putin had said he preferred to play ice hockey.
