YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Bison are amazing creatures that should always be appreciated from a distance. The National Park Service recommends that you always stay at least 25 yards away at all times and always be aware of animal behavior.
The dangers of close proximity to bison were heightened recently when a man was gored near Old Faithful in Yellowstone.
So, I was intrigued to see this video of a cyclist passing a large herd of bison.
According to the description of the video, the cyclist is a 27-year-old named Caleb Dvorak. He encountered 75 bison while traveling the Grand Loop Road in Yellowstone.
What would you do in such a situation? Would you keep driving on the road like Dvořák did? Or would you get as far out of the way as possible to give the bison more room?
