1 dead, 2 arrested after shooting in Falconridge Monday morning – Calgary

One person died Monday morning after gunshots were heard in Calgary’s northeast Falconridge community.

Calgary Police confirmed to Global News that there is an increased police presence on the 0-100 block of Falbsy Way NE after shots were fired.

In a statement Monday afternoon, police said a man was confirmed dead on arrival and the death is being treated as suspicious. An autopsy will be performed later this week.

Investigators are still interviewing witnesses and looking for CCTV footage at the scene.

As of 11:30 a.m., summer school students and staff at Bishop McNally High School were asked to stay indoors while police tried to figure out where the shots came from.

Two people – a man and a woman – were arrested by CPS nearby.

The Calgary Police Tactical Unit was also in the area as police asked people to avoid the area.

As of 11:05 a.m., officials have closed several roads in the area and are asking drivers to use alternate routes.
