One person was killed and several homes were evacuated after a shooting in the community of Falconridge on Monday.
Officers responded to the 0-100 block of Falsby Way NE just before 11 a.m. for reports of shots fired.
Police said a man was found dead at the scene.
Officers cordoned off Falsby Way as well as part of 54th Street NE while they investigated.
Police arrested a man and a woman early Monday afternoon.
CPS members escort a handcuffed woman to a CPS vehicle during the response to a shooting in Falconridge Monday morning. An autopsy will be performed later this week, when the victim’s name is expected to be released.
The death is the second in Calgary in two days; on Sunday, a body was found in Mount Royal by someone walking their dog.
“Although we are in the preliminary stages of the investigation, investigators do not believe the two suspicious deaths are related,” police said in a statement.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses and looking for CCTV footage.
Neighbors and police say the tactical unit has been called to the house on Falsby Way in the past – including about a month ago.
“Things have gotten worse in the last ten years,” said one neighbor, who did not want to be identified. “It’s been a magnet for bad news for the last 10 years.”
If the man’s death is ruled a homicide, it would be the city’s 17th in 2022.
