  • Today’s starting lineup averages 80 games per player, with four players – Sauerbrunn, Morgan, O’Hara and Horan – having over 100 games. Four players on that list – Smith, Fox, Cook and Murphy – have less than 20 caps, and all will be making their first appearance for the USWNT in a World Cup or Olympic qualifier.
  • Four players in this starting lineup appeared in the USA’s last meeting against Haiti, which took place in the opening game of the Concacaf Olympic Qualifier on January 28, 2020. Lavelle, O’Hara and Sauerbrunn started that game in Houston, while Horan came on second -half-sub and scored the USA’s third goal in the eventual 4-0 win.
  • Center back Becky Sauerbrunn will captain the USWNT for the 33rd time as she makes her 204th international cap. This will be Sauerbrunn’s 18th start and 19th appearance for the USA in a Concacaf qualifying event, having appeared in World Cup qualifiers in 2010, 2014 and 2018 and Olympic qualifiers in 2012, 2016 and 2020.
  • Goalkeeper Casey Murphy will make his Concacaf qualifying debut, winning his sixth career cap and making his fourth appearance in 2022. Murphy, who won his first USWNT cap just seven months ago in a 3-0 win over Australia in Sydney on November 27, has four clean sheets in his previous five games.
  • Defender Alanna Cook will make her seventh start of 2022 as she makes her qualifying debut in what will be her 11th international appearance overall for the USWNT. Cook leads the team with 504 minutes played in 2022 and had two assists in the USA’s win over Uzbekistan on April 9. This will be the fourth time Cook and Sauerbrunn have started together at center back. They last started together in the USA’s 3-0 win over Colombia on June 25.
  • Kelly O’Hara is poised to win her 155th game, tying Michelle Akers and Kristen Press for 22nd on the USWNT’s all-time list. O’Hara, who scored her third career goal in the USWNT’s win over Colombia on June 28, will compete in her sixth Concacaf qualifying tournament after playing in the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympic and World Cup qualifiers in 2014 and 2018. She has one goal and four assists in 16 qualifying appearances.
  • Mallory Pugh will make her sixth start in 2022, becoming the 49th player in USWNT history to reach 75 games. At 24 years and 66 days, she is the youngest player to reach the milestone since Heather O’Reilly did so in 2008 at the age of 23. Pugh is directly involved in a team-high 10 goals in 2022 in both goals (5) and assists (5). This will be Pugh’s 10th overall appearance in CONCACAF qualifying and her first since qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
  • Midfielder Lindsey Horan will win her 112th cap as she competes in her fourth straight qualifying event for the USA after appearing in the 2016 Olympic Qualifiers, the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers and again in the Olympic Qualifiers in 2020 Horan led the USA in scoring with six goals during the 2020 Olympic qualifiers, including a goal in the tournament opener against Haiti.

  • Alex Morgan will win her 193rd cap for the USWNT in what will be her second start and third appearance overall for the USA in 2022. Morgan has a total of 19 goals in her 20 qualifying appearances for the USA, 10 of which have come at the World Cup qualifiers, which is tied for the fourth most in team history. She scored seven goals in four games in 2018 World Cup qualifying, which was her final action in Concacaf qualifying for the USA. She missed the 2020 Olympic qualifiers due to pregnancy.
