The next Apple Watch could be bigger, find out if you have the fever

Rumors are swirling around the Apple Watch Series 8, suggesting that it may feature a new 50.5mm display and a new skin temperature detection method that may be able to diagnose fever.

Apple Insider reports that the new watch will come in three sizes, including the new 50.5mm option. This will be slightly larger than the maximum size of the Series 7, which is currently 45 mm. For context, the smallest current Apple Watch has a 41mm screen.

Apple appears to be pushing for health-oriented features on the Apple Watch, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, which says it will come with body temperature measurement. The rumor suggests that Apple tried to add this sensor to the Series 7, but couldn’t get it to be as accurate as it needed to be. Thus, it is now preparing to participate in Series 8.

The new sensor won’t be as accurate as a traditional thermometer, but Gurman’s report suggests the sensor will simply tell people if they have a fever. Others suggest that this technology could also help women know when they are ovulating.
