The man in charge of easyJet’s day-to-day operations has quit as anger grows over canceled flights and more disruption at airports, including four-hour queues in Manchester.
The budget airline said Peter Bellew had resigned after two and a half years “to pursue other business opportunities”.
Airlines are expected to announce more flight cancellations this week to prevent disruption during the holiday rush. They can change timetables until Friday, when the government’s amnesty to cancel airport slots expires.
EasyJet was one of the worst hit by the crashes and last month canceled thousands of flights from its summer schedule to stem problems that had been building for months.
It said around 10,000 flights out of 160,000 scheduled to operate between July and September would not be operated
