We’ve been wondering for a while now if there will be a Ubisoft Forward event in 2022. We finally have an answer. We actually have two: Ubisoft has announced two showcases, and one of them is just two days away as of this writing.
As announced on the company’s own blog, the Ubisoft Forward Spotlight will air on Thursday, July 7 at 11am ET / 8am ET on Twitch and YouTube. The stream is all about Skull & Bones and promises to “provide an in-depth look at the upcoming open-world multiplayer pirate game inspired by the Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy.” The last time we saw Skull & Bones in action was via leaked alpha gameplay earlier this year. This will be the first official demo in a while and will hopefully include the game’s final release date.
This is just the first showcase. Ubisoft Forward properly returns on Saturday, September 10 at 3pm ET / noon PT, also on Twitch and YouTube. “Never-before-seen news, gameplay, reveals and more” is on the menu for this stream. Curiously, this Ubisoft Forward is scheduled two weeks after Gamescom, where Ubi had previously planned to show off a slew of upcoming games, Skull & Bones supposedly being one of them. Given that the game is getting its own spotlight, its inclusion at Gamescom now seems all but guaranteed. On the other hand, it makes one wonder what will be in store for Ubisoft’s own event in September.
There’s a lot to look forward to from Ubisoft in the coming months, and that includes post-launch content. We may not know much about Skull & Bones right now, but we do know that a politically charged overfishing event will be part of the game when it launches. This is in addition to the Burning Forest event planned for Ubisoft’s Riders Republic, an event designed to raise awareness about climate change.
