A MAN has died after a crash with a truck on a highway carrying out repair work.
Dorset Police received reports of a collision in Redwood Drive in Ferndown involving a lorry which was carrying out repair work and a male pedestrian.
A 54-year-old man died on the spot. His family has been notified.
The road has been closed for emergency crews to respond to the incident and for the scene to be examined.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of driving.
The Health and Safety Executive has been notified and is assisting with the investigation of the incident.
Police were alerted to the incident at 11.10am on Tuesday July 5 and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Inspector Craig Tatton, from the Roads Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly passed away at this extremely difficult time.
“We are carrying out an investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I would urge any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact us.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have caught anything of relevance on a DVR, home CCTV or doorbell camera recording.”
