Tyrell Malacia was officially unveiled as a Manchester United player this week, becoming Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer.
Malacia has signed a contract until 2026, which United can extend until 2027. The left-back explained that he wants to emulate and even surpass club legend Patrice Evra.
For now, Malacia just wants to enjoy the moment and sent a message to Red Devils supporters on social media expressing his happiness at signing for the club.
Timber sends a message to Tyrell Malacia
Malacia, 22, heads to United to fight for a first-team place and is looking forward to the next chapter of his career.
One player to watch for all 32 World Cup teams
After posting on Instagram, Malacia received dozens of congratulatory messages from former teammates, which included fellow Netherlands international Jurrien Timber.
Timber had the opportunity to sign for Manchester United this summer as well, before being spooked by Louis van Gaal, who warned him that his international prospects could take a hit.
As we noted last week, Timber needed to show more belief in himself and back himself to achieve success, the same way Malacia did.
Malasia has three fewer international caps than Timber, making his international debut after him. Van Gaal’s warning applies to him too.
However, the left-back has not been disheartened and has taken advantage of the opportunity Manchester United have presented him with.
We wonder if Timber doubts himself or regrets not being as brave either.
