A businessman linked to Gazprom, the Kremlin-owned energy giant, was found dead of a gunshot wound near St. Petersburg, becoming the fifth Russian gas industry figure to die in violent circumstances this year.
Yuri Voronov, 61, headed Astra Shipping, a shipping company that works with Gazprom on its Arctic projects. His body was found in the pool of a luxury property near St. Petersburg.
Shell casings and a gun were also found at the scene. It is not clear who owns the weapon. His widow said that Voronov drank heavily after losing money in conflicts with business partners.
His death comes after Vladislav Avaev, a former vice president of Gazprombank, and Sergey Protosenya, a top manager at Russian energy giant Novotek,
