A spokesman for the health minister confirmed Dube would not be announcing any new health measures or new mask mandates.
However, he will tell Quebecers to be careful, especially if they attend gatherings, and in particular for people over 60 or who are immunocompromised.
Dubé will also address the issue of the fourth vaccine dose, reiterating the public health announcement last week that all adults can receive a booster against COVID-19 if their last vaccine was more than three months ago or they have had COVID-19 more from three months ago.
Public health advises those at risk to get a fourth dose.
HOSPITALIZATIONS CLIMBING
Hospitalizations with COVID-19 continue their upward trajectory in Quebec, with the health ministry reporting an increase of 56 — that’s 183 admissions and 127 discharges — in 24 hours.
The province also reported 13 new deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing Quebec’s total to 15,630 since the pandemic began.
There are currently 40 people in intensive care, which is one more than the day before. Due to a “compilation problem,” ICU admission and discharge data were not available Wednesday, according to the Quebec government website.
NEW CASES
The province also registered 1,839 new cases of the virus, but this number does not reflect the actual situation because PCR testing is not available to the general public.
In addition, another 642 positive rapid tests were self-reported. A total of 240,214 rapid tests have been registered since Quebec opened its online portal.
Health workers in Quebec administered an additional 7,130 doses of the vaccine. So far, Quebecers have received 20,078,507 shots.
