RELEASE: Body found in River Trent

Members of the Northumberland OPP found a person deceased in the Trent River in the Trent Hills area.

On July 8, 2022, just before 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a call about a body floating in the River Trent in the area of ​​Bridge Street. Officers found and pulled the body from the water, but the victim had died.

The deceased has been identified as Gail Cleary, 80, of Trent Hills.

The death is not believed to be suspicious and no foul play is suspected. The Northumberland OPP Crime Squad and Central Region Forensic Identification Services are continuing the investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
