This is the terrifying moment a Canadian construction worker was recorded hanging from a crane on a construction site.

In the heart-stopping 39-second video, the unnamed Toronto man can be seen holding on to an expensive hand for a slogan as a boulder above him descends to the ground.

Two men seen on the construction site opposite the worker can be heard shouting in a futile attempt to stop the machine.

Meanwhile, the worker is flailing his legs in the air and holding onto the tag with both hands as he screams in terror.

One of the witnesses strangely yells at the worker to “get off your helmet”, indicating that the equipment he was struggling to keep from dropping will not help his case.

The worker obeyed and let the hat fall as he continued his terrifying descent to the ground.

The now-viral video was posted by Instagram page @my_s1 on Tuesday and has garnered more than 73,000 views and thousands of comments.

The man, who was unharmed after finally touching down, is employed by PCL Constructors Canada and was working at a construction site at Front and Simcoe streets.

The company said the worker’s arm was entangled with a sign after he attached a load to the crane. Canada’s Department of Labor has launched an investigation into the incident.

In the video, a shocked man can be heard saying: “How the hell did this happen?”

Another appeared to have tried to get the operator’s attention by telling him to stop the machine as the worker approached the ground, but was asked by the man standing next to him not to shout so as not to alarm the worker.

“Holy-F**** Jesus Christ. Someone tell [the operator] to stop before he was crushed,” said one witness.

In a statement to the Daily Commercial News, PCL Constructors Canada confirmed that the man was employed by the company.

“We can confirm that an incident occurred at our site located at Front and Simcoe yesterday involving rigging that became entangled with a sign after attaching a load,” the statement said.

“Fortunately he was safely lowered to the work surface and was not seriously injured. The safety of all workers and the community is our top priority. We are working with all appropriate authorities and the incident is currently under investigation.”
