A MAN has died after driving his car the wrong way on the A23 and crashing into a lorry.
The accident happened on the A23 near Bolney at around 5.15am this morning.
The black Nissan Qashqai was traveling against oncoming traffic southbound on the carriageway before colliding with the articulated lorry.
The car was left overturned on the inside lane and the truck was partially off the road.
The A23 was closed on both sides
Police, fire and ambulance crews attended but the driver, a 23-year-old man from Cuckfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His relatives have been notified.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.
The force wants to speak to the occupants of a dark Ford that stopped at the scene but left before police arrived.

Both sides of the A23 were closed for more than 10 hours between Pease Pottage and Warninglid to allow investigation and recovery.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage that could assist officers in their investigation is asked to report it to police by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Riverhill.
