Protester Graham Norton has reportedly celebrated his wedding to his long-term partner with a wedding ceremony in Ireland.
According to the Irish Examiner, the BBC star welcomed over 100 guests to her native West Cork to celebrate her wedding at Bantry House and Gardens on Saturday.
Guests are said to have enjoyed a private party at the four-star venue, which was closed to the public, located on the Wild Atlantic Way overlooking Bantry Bay.
They were treated to performances by singer Lulu and Irish dance group Cairde, as well as a DJ set by drag queen and gay rights activist Panty Bliss.
And the festivities didn’t end there, as several party tents were set up outside Norton’s home in Ahakista the next day.
There had been speculation that Graham and his partner were already legally married ahead of Saturday’s event, believed to be a blessing ceremony.
Speaking about the celebrations, one local resident told Cork Beo: “We knew Bantry House was closed for a private event, it was pretty common knowledge that it was a party for Graham and it was to do with his marriage.
“We’ve heard all sorts of names, Lady Gaga, Elton John was supposed to sing, we haven’t seen any of them but there’s been a lot of buzz around Bantry.
“We could all hear the music from Bantry House on Saturday night – they certainly had the time for it!”
The Evening Standard has contacted Graham Norton’s representative for comment.
The author grew up in Bantry and maintains strong ties to his home town, spending two months there every summer.
Norton, who is believed to be worth £24million, is known for keeping his private life secret.
Although nothing is known about his current relationship, he previously dated RuPaul’s Drag Race star Christian Sieber, Scott Michaels for five years until 2000 and was in a relationship with Trevor Patterson from 2011 to 2013.
Most recently, he was in a relationship with music marketing consultant Andrew Smith, with whom he split in 2015.
Despite the weekend nuptials, the talk show legend recently opened up about why he prefers to live alone.
Speaking on Katie Couric’s podcast in 2018, he said: “You have your own rules when you get older. I would rather live alone for the rest of my life than live with improperly folded towels.
“The little things are important. This is why marriages break up. Marriages don’t break up over big things.
People cohabit because they have to, because it makes economic sense, I don’t think anyone wants to live with someone.
“It’s like the toilet paper is hanging the wrong way, like the bread isn’t going in there, and also my problem is, of course, I’m old, so the longer you leave it the worse it gets.”
