Statement
“At 8.08pm this evening Christchurch firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a property in Mudeford Lane.
“After arriving on scene, crews requested additional resources and we currently have 12 fire engines, two water tankers and an aerial ladder platform. Firefighters are using main lines to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. Colleagues from Dorset Police have requested a road closure.
“At the moment it is not clear how the fire started.
Band manager Stuart Gillian, who is at the scene, said: “We are asking the public to avoid the area. Due to the weather, Christchurch and Muddeford are extremely busy tonight. To allow our crews to work safely and prevent the fire from spreading, we are urging residents to stay away.”
