A Minneapolis mother was captured on video Saturday confronting Black Lives Matter activists who gathered in her neighborhood to protest the fatal police shooting of a gunman she says tried to kill her and her children.
Arabella Foss-Yarbrough called the police last Wednesday night after neighbor Andrew “Thekle” Sundberg allegedly fired his gun into her home while she was cooking dinner for her children, leaving bullet holes in the front door, walls and above the bathroom sink , show photos.
Two Minneapolis police snipers shot him dead Thursday morning after a long standoff. A handgun with an extended magazine and several shell casings were found in his apartment, the New York Post reported.
“This is not a George Floyd situation. George Floyd was unarmed. This is wrong,” Foss-Yarbrough fired at protesters who gathered at a march and rally for the man on Saturday, according to the video. “He tried to kill me in front of my children.
Ignoring the mother’s pleas for peace on her street, protesters said an injustice had been done and honored Sundberg’s death by leaving candles and flowers around his chalked name on the sidewalk, photos from the Star Tribune show.
One protester can be heard telling Foss-Yarbrough “this is not the time” as she recounts the horror she and her children felt when the bullets tore into their home.
BLM Minnesota Chief Trahern Crews joined the march to call for police transparency.
“We are here to respect life, to demand justice, and to demand the release of the CCTV footage,” Crews said, according to the Star Tribune.
Foss-Yarbrough was nearly hysterical with emotion as she confronted the activists, annoyed that they might defend someone she says tried to kill her family.
“I can’t take my items because you guys have glorified his life,” the mother screamed through tears. “This is not good. My kids have to deal with this and probably already have a mental illness. Because they almost lost their lives. There are bullet holes in my kitchen because he was sitting in the fucking hallway watching me move.

Addressing her mixed-race minority, the mother appeared upset that protesters were advocating for the shooter’s lost life, but not hers and her children’s.
“I have black children; I’m a woman of color!” she declared. “If I was going to lose my life, would you do that for me?” “Yes, ma’am,” said Crews.
During the mother’s tirade, Sundberg’s parents stood with the protesters. They expressed concern for her to the Post, while maintaining that their son’s shooting was unjust. They say Sundberg was struggling with mental illness when he shot up the home.
“I wish I could hug her and tell her I’m so sorry,” Cindy Sundberg said. “I’m so sorry she had to experience, I’m so sorry for her pain.”
“Tekle was an imperfect human, as we are all imperfect humans, and he didn’t deserve to be taken like an animal off a roof,” she said.
