GTA gas prices: Analyst says drivers should wait to fill up until Saturday

Petrol prices in the GTA are expected to drop another six cents a liter overnight, hitting a price motorists haven’t seen since April.

Industry analyst Dan McTeague, of Canadians for Affordable Energy, tells CP24 he expects gas prices to drop to an average of 168.9 cents a liter by midnight across most of Southern Ontario.

The latest cut comes after petrol prices fell by four cents a liter on Friday.

Gasoline prices have now been in decline for more than a month after hitting a record high of 214.9 cents a liter in the GTA on June 11.

However, petrol prices remain well above what they were at this time last July, when the highest average price recorded at the pumps was 139.9 cents a litre.

The rise in prices is mainly due to supply chain challenges resulting from the war in Ukraine.
