Late-night comedians are not Biden’s languages.
“The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon joked that Joe Biden might resign amid the US president’s plummeting approval ratings during the opening monologue of his episode Monday night.
“I read that Dr. Fauci plans to retire by the end of President Biden’s term,” Fallon, 47, said before joking, “Yeah, then everybody turned to Biden like, ‘Is there anything you’d like announce too?’

The joke coincides with a recent poll showing that nearly two-thirds of Democratic voters (64%) want the party to choose a different candidate for the 2024 presidential race, while more than three-quarters of Americans (77%) say the country is moving in the wrong direction. Meanwhile, 13% say the U.S. is on track, the least since the depths of the Great Recession more than a decade ago.
Regardless, Biden, who is the nation’s oldest president at 79, has repeatedly said he intends to run for re-election and even snapped at a reporter last week for suggesting his party wanted him out after just one mandate.

Elsewhere in his monologue, Fallon took issue with the commander-in-chief’s controversial greeting to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman during last week’s meeting.
“Biden said it wasn’t a punch, it was me trying to punch him as hard as I could,” quipped the comic, insulting Biden’s advanced age. He analogizes the gesture to a “greeting [Russian President Vladimir] Putin with chest pounding and a brotherly hug.”
The US previously accused the Arab leader of ordering the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi – claims the crown prince has denied.

Fallon isn’t the first late night host to take pictures of Biden’s seemingly gracious handshake. Trevor Noah and Stephen Colbert also criticized the punch, with the latter host ranting:
“It was important that Biden put a lot of thought into how he was going to greet MBS…….and … boom go ethics.”
The punch was seen as one of many perceived gaffes by Biden in recent months, the latest coming after he said he had cancer during a speech on Wednesday. The White House press office said Biden was referring to skin cancer treatment he had before taking office last year.
