Ricky Martin has finally been able to begin the healing process after his nephew’s “painful and devastating” claims they had an incest relationship were dismissed in court on Thursday.
The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer, 50, explained in a new video message obtained by Page Six why he didn’t address the allegations when they first surfaced earlier this month — despite his team vehemently denying ” the false and fictitious’ claims as of now.
“For two weeks I was not allowed to defend myself because I was following a procedure where the law … required me not to speak until I stood before the judge,” said Martin, who was formally dressed in a suit and tie in the clip.
Earlier Thursday, the “She Bangs” singer was set to testify at a hearing about the protection order filed against him, but his 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, eventually dropped the charges.
Martin’s attorneys told Page Six that the accuser “confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed that he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter.”

Sanchez, who is the son of Martin’s half-sister Vanessa Martin, previously claimed he and the pop superstar had a seven-month relationship and stalked him at his house after they broke up two months ago.
In his video message, Ricky expressed relief at the closure of the case, but noted how it has affected his life and the life of his loved one over the past few weeks.
“Thank God those allegations turned out to be false, but I’ll tell you the truth, it was so painful and devastating for me, my family and my friends,” he said. “I don’t wish this on anyone.”

The “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely” singer called Sanchez’s claims “bullshit,” but appeared to hold no grudge against his relative, who he, his crew and half-brother Eric Martin have publicly claimed suffers from mental health issues.
“I wish him the best and I wish he could find the help so he can start a new life full of love and truth and joy and not hurt anyone,” Ricky said.

The father of four, who has been married to artist Jwan Yosef since 2017, said at the time that his priority now is to “heal” and plans to do so through music.
“I can’t wait to get back on stage,” he said. “I can’t wait to get back in front of the cameras and have fun, which is what I do best.”

Ricky will host a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday, according to his Instagram.
The Grammy winner ended his message by thanking all of his supporters, including his family and fans.
“You have no idea the strength you’ve given me with every comment you’ve made on social media,” Ricky said. “I wish you love and light and here we are, with the same power and passion. God bless you.”
