People can be seen sitting on the side of the pool watching a man slip and almost get sucked into the hole while dance music plays in the background.
While one man who was briefly sucked in by the swirling waters escaped with minor injuries, Mr Kimhee was pronounced dead at the scene when rescue workers recovered his body hours later at the end of a 15m tunnel.
“A very unusual incident”
Rescue workers had to shore up the structure to prevent further collapse and then lowered a rescue dog strapped to a GoPro camera into the hole, Israeli news outlet Ynet reported.
A couple in their 60s who own the villa, which is often rented out for parties, built the pool without obtaining a permit, Israeli media reported. Kan public television reported that permission was not granted due to problems with the site.
The hole likely formed due to poor construction rather than a geological fault, according to Prof. Shmuel Marko of Tel Aviv University’s Department of Geophysics
