Firemen rescue an unconscious driver, stop the car from falling into the river

Ottawa firefighters completed a rescue on a movie set Friday night after a driver’s car went off the side of the road and nearly fell 15-20 feet into the water below.

Police called firefighters to a collision at Bank Street and Riverside Drive at 8:27 p.m., where the driver appeared to have hit a tree or utility pole, Ottawa Fire Services said in a news release.

Firefighters arrived on the scene about four minutes after receiving the call and were told the driver was unconscious and trapped in the car, swinging on the side of the road.

The car was quickly tied down to prevent it from falling, but water rescue teams were dispatched as a precaution.

At 20:47, the door was completely removed, and the driver was taken out.

Ottawa Paramedics responded to the scene and the driver was taken to hospital.

Their condition is unknown.
