Oak Fire 5:30 pm July 22 Mariposa Area
Update 6:45 p.m.: New evacuation orders have been issued for the Lushmeadows subdivision and Triangle Rd., from Darrah Rd. to Westfall Rd. and all side roads. Additional details on the Oak Fire burning in Mariposa County are below, along with all earlier evacuations and road closures.
Update at 5:50 p.m.: CAL Fire now reports that the Midpine Oak Fire burning in the Midpine area of Mariposa County has grown to 1,300 acres and is currently at zero containment. All evacuations and road closures can be found below.
Update at 5:25 p.m.: A new evacuation center has been opened at Mariposa Elementary School, located at 5044 Jones St., Mariposa. The new evacuation orders expand the evacuation zone to include Silva Road from Triangle to Van Ness Road.
Update at 5:10 p.m.: CAL Fire reports the fire is 611 acres and there are new evacuation orders in place to add to previous orders that include Darrah Road from Triangle to Valley View Road, including all side roads. A CAL Fire Information Line has been established for the Oak Fire in Mariposa County at (844) 668-3473.
Update at 4:50 p.m.: Mariposa CAL Fire dispatch confirms the Oak Fire is 60-70 acres with the potential to spread to a thousand acres. The fire started after 2:30 p.m. Evacuation, road closure and evacuation center information is below.
Mariposa County Evacuation Order 4 at 5:00 PM on July 22nd
Update at 4:20 p.m.: There are new evacuation orders for the Oak Fire burning in Mariposa County. These include those on Triangle Rd. from Hwy 140 to the community of Darrah and Jerseydale Rd., including all side roads. Additionally, Jerseydale Rd is also closed. More evacuations and road closures are shown below.
Update at 3:50 p.m.: The evacuation order for the oak fire has been extended. The map has been updated, but still does not have an accurate description of the area. There are no tips. The area on the map is an evacuation order to leave due to an immediate threat. A large animal evacuation center is at the Mariposa Fairgrounds. Midpines is about 6 miles from the city of Mariposa.
Update at 3:28 p.m.: The Mariposa Sheriff’s Office has updated the evacuation order issued for Carstens Road, Buckingham Mt. Road, Plumbar Creek Rd., and Triangle from Plumbar to Highway 140. According to the Mariposa dispatch center, which has been swamped with calls, the estimated size of the fire is 60 acres. They have no other information at this time.
An evacuation center has been set up at New Life Christian Church, located at 5089 Cole Road in Mariposa.
Carstens Road, Triangle Road from Hwy 140 to Carlton Road, Buckingham Mt. Road and Plumbar Creek Road are closed.
Original post 3:16 p.m.: Mariposa County, CA — If you heard the Columbia plane take off, they are headed to Mariposa County to help with a midpine vegetation fire.
CAL Fire reports the fire broke out in the 4900 block of Carstens Road, off Highway 140 and just north of the Midpines community. The size of the fire is unknown, as dispatchers say it was half an acre in size when firefighters arrived, but it was spreading quickly.
The image box shows where the Mariposa Sheriff’s Office has ordered evacuations. According to PG & E, all of Midpines is currently without power. An update will be provided as soon as new information comes to the newsroom.
