Brace yourselves, it’s going to be a very hot week in the Okanagan.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 30 degrees.
“Over the next few days, we’re looking at a really strong ridge of high pressure over southern British Columbia. Temperatures are likely to be five to 10 degrees above normal for the most part,” meteorologist Greg Walters said.
Environment Canada says they will issue a heat alert if temperatures reach 35 C for two consecutive days or higher and overnight lows do not fall below 18 C.
“It’s definitely possible. It could be released sometime on Monday. It just hovers around heat warning values. We generally don’t like to issue them more than 24 hours in advance, but certainly temperatures in much of the southern interior are quite warm,” Walters added.
On Monday, there will be maximum temperatures of 33 degrees with sunshine.
High temperatures of 34 degrees are expected on Tuesday with sunshine throughout the day.
On Wednesday, it will rise to 36 degrees and sunshine.
Thursday will be the hottest day of the week with a brisk 37C and sunshine.
Sun is also expected on Friday and Saturday with a maximum of 36 degrees.
