The only suspect is in custody, Langley RCMP said.

A man is in custody after a shooting early Monday morning in Langley.

RCMP said officers responded to several reports of shots fired with multiple victims at various locations in the Town of Langley and to one incident in the Town of Langley.
It is unclear whether the victims were injured or died in the shooting.
One man, who identified himself as homeless, said he rushed to Langley Center after friends told him another homeless man had been shot in the area. “I saw an ambulance trying to revive the man,” he said.
The man asked not to be named, fearing retaliation from the shooter. “It’s so sad. I hope they can identify who this man is and tell his family.
Authorities issued an emergency alert about the shooting out of an abundance of caution, police said.
The alert sent to cell phone users in the Lower Mainland around 6:25 a.m. warned of multiple shootings. One incident involved “transient casualties” in the town of Langley.

The alert included a description of a man: Caucasian with dark hair, wearing brown overalls and a blue and green camouflage T-shirt. The man is also associated with a white car. “Police are interacting with (a) suspect,” the alert said. “It is unknown if others are currently involved.”
About an hour after the report was filed, a second notification was sent saying the suspect was “no longer a threat.”

Jess Lee was on her way to work on the Langley Bypass when her car was blocked by a large police presence on 200th Street.
At first she assumed it was a car accident. But after seeing police storming the area with rifles in hand, she realized another event was unfolding.
“There were at least 15 police cars gathered in one area,” Lee said. “One was definitely kneeling over someone, holding them down.”

Although the second alert said police were still trying to determine if more than one suspect was involved in the shooting, Langley RCMP said investigators believe the only suspect is now in custody.
A bullet-riddled white car could be seen in a strip mall parking lot near 200 Street and the Langley Bypass. There is also a truck with a broken window on the lot, as well as a forensics tent.
Nearby, a pair of shoes and a backpack could be seen strewn across the sidewalk along 200 Street.

A second forensics tent could be seen on the Langley bus line located at Logan Avenue and Glover Road near the MIssion Thrift Store.
A third area outside Cascades Casino near Fraser Highway and 204 Street is also cordoned off. Behind the police tape, under a tree, was a shopping cart containing what appeared to be personal items.

By 8 a.m., a small group of people had gathered on cement benches outside the casino, a few hundred meters from the cordoned off site.
One of them, a middle-aged woman who identified herself to Postmedia as homeless, said from that vantage point she heard a woman’s screams earlier this morning, followed by the crack of gunshots.
“She looked like she was asleep,” the woman said.
Police said the case remains under investigation and asked the public to avoid: 200 Street and Langley Bypass; the Langley Bus Circuit; and the Cascades Casino parking lot located at Fraser Highway and 204 Street.
