Metro service has resumed between St. George and Pape after an electrical fire forced the TTC to shut down part of Line 2 early Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out at Bloor-Yonge Station, police said, and service on that stretch was suspended shortly after 7 a.m.
Toronto Fire Services and TTC staff worked to resolve the issue and were able to extinguish the “main body of the fire” by late morning.
A spokeswoman for the transit authority said cleanup and additional testing were needed before service could be fully resumed.

Earlier in the day, police said large crowds had formed outside Pape and Broadview stations as shuttles carried passengers delayed by the outage.
“Crowds of people entering traffic,” police added in a tweet.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the TTC said additional repairs will be made without further service disruptions.
